I have melo in my left ankle, leg, hip and lower back. I have found that using heat rather than ice helps me as well as putting my foot up under a few pillows. Does anyone else have any suggestions about what helps them? Meds? Wearing braces? Massages? Any information would help. Thanks!

I agree with the heat thing. The doctors have checked it many times and other than melo being in the area can't find anything actually wrong with it so instead of saying the melo is causing the pain they keep saying the fatty pad in there gets pinched from time to time... Back to the things that help. Usually I can tell when it's gonna be a rough night so I start out just soaking it in bath water then put a knee brace on and when it's really bad I'll use a heating pad. I've tried every over the counter meds but nothing really works. For me the pain isn't what I consider a surface pain it's a really deep pain.

I have melo in my right ankle and knee. Im asked to describe the pain which I struggle to put into words other than to say it is a very deep constant pain. Heat is the only thing that I've found to help with the pain, cold makes it much worse. The pain is almost like the bone itself is being pulled at both ends and putting severe stress on it. Brett

As well as my pain meds, I have been using Tiger Balm to help with the pain. Try it - see if it works for you!! michelle

I have Melo in my right leg, as well as in parts of my left leg. What has helped me for about 6 months now is a regular regimen of Tylenol 3. It's not perfect, but it allows me to do daily things like getting out of bed, and sometimes I can even clean my house. My pain specialist also wants me to try physical therapy with a walker and hydrotherapy in a pool. I'm hoping these things help, I start them next week. I will post again if they work, or at least help a bit.

I was diagnosed in 1996 with melo in my right foot, ankle and now in my toes and am not sure what is going on with the huge lump on the right side of my right knee but boy does it cause the worst pain I've ever felt. I've tried physical therapy, experimental meds, wore a boot for years and just can't ease the increasing pain. Heat doesn't help, ice doesn't help and all the pain meds the docs have given me don't even take the edge off. Help if you can.

I have Melo in my right leg from the knee down. 3 weeks ago I had a baseball size piece cut away from my knee @ lankenau hospital in phila, pa. the verdict is still out but I can tell already that the range of movement in my knee has substantially improved. I am excited to start my physical therapy and get back on my feet. the oncologist which removed the mass is recommending radiation therapy to possibly prevent re-growth as this is now the 2nd time for me. i will keep eveyone posted on the therapy but the surgery I feel was a great success.

Hello all. I was diagnosed in Nov 2012 following over 7 years of pain and discomfort, doctors visits and pt. My issue is in my right ankle. I live in a rural area of south Georgia and my doctor has very nicely suggested I see someone else. I am at a loss at this point as none of the doctors listed on this site are close. Any suggestions?
